Employment issues with disabled women in Information Technology

People with disabilities face a challenging set of problems each day throughout their lives, they have become vulnerable in each sector of the society, like educational problems, employment issues, lack of training due to disabilities, due to these problems they easily are consumed by grief and sorrow and struggles, because of no equality. People with disabilities are among the most vulnerable group in the society. They are often undereducated, untrained, unemployed and poor. They face many obstacles in their struggle for equality. These people are subjected on the base of their disabilities and often ignored and rejected in many opportunities in life, both men, and women. But sadly, women are more discriminated due to both their gender and disability.

Research tells us that many women have problems in getting employment in different sectors of fields, in which IT is the highest recorded field which contains less and nearly no women employed with disabilities, whereas disabled men still have more chances to get employed in such sector.
I have worked in different departments of several companies, and what I have noticed is that majority of them feel hesitant towards hiring disabled women, no matter how much gender equality these organizations promote yet still deep down they hold their biased-ness towards disabled women. Women with visual, hearing disabilities suffer from the most unemployment ratio. Which causes them to sit at home or try to have their own small business to have their both ends meet or feed themselves. Non- governmental organizations for these people do offer education yet still these people fail to get employment in the IT sector later in the future.

Software developer, web design, software testing, robotics, none of these departments contain employed women even if they would have the education and skill for it just due to the fact of their disability. The rights of these people are often ignored and even abused, and it had been for a very long time for years, women have difficulties living in our society due to their gender but with the one with disabilities have to face more problems.

Women with disabilities are considered as second class citizens, and the upper management do not feel that these women can help them provide change and better performance in IT field, for example, if the company is looking for a web designer and a lady with hearing disabilities has enough skills to get that job, she will be rejected for the fact that it would be difficult for the management to communicate with her or apply more effort to communicate.
Therefore, they would prefer an individual with whom they would communicate quickly.

Furthermore, the mentality of some people is that if such women would not have jobs that are not the problem then because her family will provide her and they are only capable of being at home and taking care of other house related stuff.

Another reason why these women cannot get job that most of the organization do have surrounding which would be safe for these people, for example, according to a research a female with walking disability in Ministry of Health and Social Welfare working as telecom operator told that her office was on the third floor and the building doesn’t have a lift. She reported the problem several times to the management and explained the difficulties she had by going up and down every day, but they told her there is no any office on the ground floor. Sadly, one day, she fell from the third floor, sustained serious injuries on her spinal cord and was hospitalized for six months, and didn’t recover totally. and sometimes she loses my memory. But after the accident, she was given the office on the ground floor.

Couldn’t they just have provided to her before?

Some organizations consider these women as a liability reflecting the fact that these women can easily be exposed towards abuse, violence or poor health conditions. are more likely to experience violence, abuse, and poor health than men with disabilities.

Women have great potential in working hard for their goals and aims, even more than men, this is why they deserve to get employment chances in these fields because I think of what these women have faced throughout their lives such as gender biasedness and disability barriers, they would have so better and effective ideas for the future generation which they would simply by working in these fields and provide software, supporting techs, making software for people with disabilities, this would be their goal. Furthermore, they also fail to realize that these women have the potential for great leadership and can transform communities.

These women face various obstacles in having employment in the IT sector more, those who have somehow managed to get employment still have to work under several problems which are why some of them leave their job and end up sitting back at home. work under very difficult conditions. As a result, some of them have even left aside their opportunities in the public service. This shows that the right to employment for women with disabilities in Tanzania is not adequately realized. While appreciating the efforts which have been made by the Government to change the situation of people with disabilities in formal employment, it is worth noting that a lot still needs to be done. There are still a lot of gaps which need to be closed. The following chapter analyzes some of the gaps and proposes measures that are required to be taken to change the situation of disabled women in the formal employment sector.

Let me suggest some possible factors which can help these women get employment in this department.

  1. There should be strict rules made by the government for the organization who would reject these women just because of their disabilities and also should implement these rules and policies in order to provide these women deserving working opportunities, and transport arrangements should be made, organizations should have friendly environment for these people so they can work easily.
  2. To provide awareness for these women, there should be seminars conducted and these problems should be pointed out publicly.
  3. There should be a social app for them, where they can upload their profiles with skills, this kind of app can only be made by app developers and will take a long procedure to come on track.
  4. These women should be involved in decision-making process and policies which would help other disabled women in the lower sector too and establish balanced opportunity methods.
  5. These women should also be trained for their career development in the IT sector and polish their skills.
  6. Actions should be taken against companies who reject these women despite having a lot of skills under the employment laws.

Women should not be rejected due to any means whether it’s a field of IT or not, they are human beings and acquire great set of skills and talent which can bring positive change which can help many people, because Information Technology is a field which is innovative and always focused on the future, therefore these people should also have the right to contribute their efforts for a better future.

How you should stop domestic violence

In this modern Era, domestic violence and abuse can happen to anyone, whether it is men or women, both have fell victim of domestic violence and suffered major consequences throughout their lives, the problem of domestic violence that most of the times it is overlooked or it is excused. It is because the majority of people look domestic violence as if it is the personal matter of the person who is getting abused and who is abusing, and some people do not even know that is they should help or what can they do to help. Abuse is more dangerous when it is psychological more than a physical one.
When we say the word domestic violence, it also reflects the term domestic abuse, which is why these both words are used for one meaning only and it is that “When a person in an intimate relationship, whether it is marriage or not he/she tries to hurt and tries to control the other person according to his/her will”. This vicious act is sometimes done by hurting that specific person or others around him/her, the abuser also threatens and beats the other person to gain control and simply fear them.
Domestic violence can take place between any type of people, women are the majority victim or domestic violence, men are victimized as well, especially emotionally by verbal abuse. My aim to write this article is that whether it’s a man or woman, domestic violence is never accepted and people witnessing such violence should know how to stop it because no one deserves to be treated with disrespect, devalued and unsafe.
Noticing and realizing the signs of an abusive relationship is the first and major step to prepare yourself to act against it. If you or your friends recognize someone you know who is being abused by any means then it is your moral duty to reach out to that person as soon as possible and help that person.

How to identify an abusive relationship?

As mentioned before, the first step to is to identify the signs of an abusive relationship, there can be multiple factors combining together to provide an accurate answer, therefore which is why those factors should be counted, if you ever find a victim of domestic violence, reach out to them, make them feel comfortable, then ask them about themselves, then try to ask about their inner feelings, they might feel hesitant at the beginning but it is your duty to show empathy and let them know you are here to help.
One major thing you should notice is that during this session you should look for physical violence signs, for example like the victim may have injuries which they would try to hide from you or wearing their clothes in such a way so they can hide their scars like long sleeves shirts, they would also miss their school or work on many occasions too. They may also have low level of self-esteem to while talking and personality changes during the conversation, and might talk about doing suicide as well
Carry on by asking them questions about their partner like “Do you avoid discussing the topics which might make your partner angry?”, then you can proceed by asking “Do you feel comfortable around your partner much of the time?”, keep analyzing the way of the response of the victim too during this procedure, when these questions are answered, carry on by asking “Do you feel that you cannot do anything to make your partner be fine again?”. After all these questions are answered, if that person is a victim, then more answers will that person respond is by saying “Yes”, and now you are sure that this person is a victim of abuse.
Keep in mind that you should never give advice to the victim at this point, offer them help instead.
Furthermore, now ask that victim about their partner, on how they express abuse, is it by threatening? Or bad temper makes him do crazy stuff? Hurts you? Threatens to take children away from you? Broke things? Forces you to have sex with them? They might also threaten to commit suicide too on some occasions. His controlling behavior might also contain factors like jealousy, controlling your behavior, limiting your necessities, checking on you, avoid you to see your friends.

Other ways to help

People who are victimized by domestic violence tend themselves to be very helpless, they are scared if they do something against it, the abuser might end up hurting children, or family or any of the friends, there are many reasons why a victim cannot take a stand for themselves.
If in any circumstances, you are unable to perform the mentioned activity to recognize the abusive relationship, for example, that abuser is so crazy that he does not even let the victim go out or contact anyone even for a minute then it is already a sign that it is an act of domestic violence.
In these occasions, the best things you could do to help is that:
• Contact your friend, or relative and inform them about the violence so you can reach any sort of organization who acts against domestic violence.

• Inform the neighbors and people around the other block about the violence and act together against it to protect the victim.

• Inform the police about them, keep an evidence to prove domestic violence.
If you are a victim

If you are a victim

If you are a victim and reading this, then it is important that you follow these steps:
• Plan your safety by contacting the local domestic violence community or organization in your city

• Contact your family or friend and inform them about the abuse, it’s the quickest and easiest way you can reach out for help.

• You can also call the police, but don’t be scared, the first thing you should know that there are strict laws against abuse, which would eventually end up making the abuser fall into the clutches of justice.

• If you do not feel safe at home at all anymore, then you should leave that place immediately and contact the domestic violence organization in your city, if you don’t have family or friends around that area or city, no need to worry, domestic violence organization are always there to help to provide you safety and shelter and is very much confidential, whether you are alone or have kids, they are always there to help.
These are the major steps which you should consider taking to get yourself free from domestic violence, it is your right to move on from such type of stress and disastrous situation and find a better and comfortable life.

We must provide awareness

At the beginning, I mentioned that domestic violence is often ignored and excused, because people around us have no knowledge that how bad can it be for the victim for their long-term stability, our community is so self-restricted with pointless facts e.g. if they both are married, let them handle their problems by themselves we should not interfere. Now, this set of mentality is wrong, it may be their marriage, but it is your responsibility to help the helpless and protect them from violence.
We can also play a vital role by contributing to the factors like:
• Be brave enough to say “Stop” to the abuser and defend the victim from their violence.

• Be a positive role model for the upcoming generation and teach them to stand up for themselves and other’s rights.

• Conduct seminars, speak against domestic violence, raise your voice to aware the people around you.

• Confront the people who remark domestic violence as a joke, these sorts of people are one of the reasons why domestic violence is not taken seriously, for example, If man is abused, people will make fun of his manhood and emotionally tear him down and put him out of his misery, which is not a good thing at any cost.

• Reach out to the victims by the mentioned steps above or however you feel comfortable with.
You should keep in mind that abusers are quite good in controlling and blackmailing their victims which might be difficult for you to identify violence at the beginning.

Look out for the signs which were mentioned above, once you manage to do that you will easily point out other factors of abuse too, so by noticing the warning signs we must offer support to the victims and help them escape from this situation, it is our moral duty to help those who need it, this is who we are and we should be, we are humans, we must protect each other and eliminate evil by all means required.

How Donkeys are treated in Pakistan

It is common in Pakistan that animals have always become the victim of abuse and cruelty, they have never been given any importance, even if some of these animals spend their entire life serving humans. People here have no knowledge about what rights do these animals have, they think they are superior beings from them, which is why their situation is never understood by anyone.

In this article, I am going to focus on cruelty which Donkeys have to face in their daily life, these animals are highly social and should be kept under the companionship of other donkeys, if this is impossible, then the owner should be responsible and show more care and affection to this animal by spending more time with them, but in Pakistan it is not the case, life of a donkey is all about lifting heavy loads, walking with a cart attached to them all day, being whipped, not getting medical care, mistreated, and being abandoned if they are no more capable of serving them due to any injury or other factors.

There are numerous cases in Pakistan by which you can easily relate that how these animals are being treated and there is no one seem to care about it, if I or anyone else like me who would speak up against animal abuse in Pakistan, we will get responses like “Nobody cares about humans here so what makes you think anyone will care about animals here”.
This kind of reply was enough for me to realize what exactly is wrong with us.

According to an animal shelter foundation in Karachi, a Donkey was abandoned by its owner where it was left alone and was lying in the same spot for several days, that poor creature was in so terrible condition for weeks which kept him starving thirsty, the locals never seem to care until the foundation found him in that condition where he was in pain and crying, according to sources he also had one leg fractured, they did everything they could to help him but sadly, the poor animal lost his life after suffering pain for weeks, he reportedly had digestive problems as well.

It should have been our responsibility as humans that we should have helped such animals as soon as we found out if not, at least we could have to try to make sure that no animal would have to feel rejected and unloved before leaving this world. (

Another report tells us another case that in Karachi, PAWS Pakistan found out that there is an injured donkey whose leg is limped and have difficulty in walking when the members of that community visited to help the animal with help of a veterinarian of The Brooke (Largest animal welfare organization in Pakistan).
It is common there that most of the donkey owners just leave their animals to roam around and keep an eye on them from far away, The Brooke kept that fact in mind and tried to look for the owner of that Donkey, when they found the owner they told him about the pain his animal is suffering from but unfortunately the owner refused to listen to their advice, he also told that he is already in contact with a quack who will re-break the donkey’s leg and try to fix it so he can provide service again. The Brooke staff tried their best to tell him that the leg is non=fixable because once when it was broken it has already healed that way which is why that donkey cannot work again in the future.
It was not found out later according to my research that what happened to that donkey, but I wish he was taken care by the welfare. The problem, in this case, was that the owner completely refused the staff to take away his animal and in a country like this, one can face very difficulties in order to take someone else’s animal no matter what the reason is. (

Donkeys are also get abused and beaten by the protestors who take their frustrations out on innocent animals by beating, slapping them, just like in the picture below, cricket fans in Pakistan protested over their team’s loss and therefore they named the donkeys which the players are having, they carried the protest by ruthlessly beating and hitting bats and pelting them with tomatoes.

Locals protesting by abusing donkey against Pakistan cricket team

Whether it’s Pakistan or any other country in the world, no human has any right to decide whose life matters more, if we do so, out rank in living creatures is no higher than anyone of them. Pakistan can be a challenging place to reside in, for both animals and humans.
Animals cannot speak them for themselves, if they would, they would have simply made humanity cry, it is up to you and me that we must raise awareness to protect them and make the public realize that these animals have full rights to live and be loved.

Don’t forget to share to raise awareness as much as possible.

High IQ Level – Advantages & Disadvantages

The advantages and disadvantages of having a high IQ discussed in this article are purely based on my personal experience and the experience of my friends and family. Therefore I believe, that some of you might also share some of these factors and realize that having a higher IQ level is quite interesting and be depressing at the same time.

IQ test refers to several tests which are collected as one score in a way to assess the level of intelligence of a specific person. There are several benefits of having high IQ level which would be discussed in this article then I will also enlighten its disadvantages.

Positive Aspects of Higher IQ level:
• With higher IQ level, people are able to learn and adapt new things easily, they would need no time to invest and doing hard work to pick-up those things.

• Solving Puzzles of any type quickly and easily.

• People with higher IQ level tends to be more creative and have the capability to create more possibilities towards achieving their goal. People with creativity can look at a drop of water dripping from a leaf and create a whole scene which would be enough to write an attractive content. These people have the ability to create something out of nothing.

• Such people are also noticed to be quite low on emotions, which is why they can handle emotional stress quite easily.

• It is a piece of cake for high IQ people to compete with others, I personally have seen my classmates in my University who have no problem or stress of studying, all they do is go through the course one week before the exam, lucky they are, they can also figure out ways to work smart.

• These people can perform far better than others in the workplace and earn more benefits comparatively from those who already work there.

• People with higher IQ like to be alone most of the time because they have a lot in their mind to keep them busy and to entertain themselves with their imagination, they would prefer to do this instead of occupying themselves with other’s boring company.

• Not all people with higher IQ can have these factors but majority can and some might have a few of these, some people with high IQ are great in picking up emotions and read expressions, for example, I always warn the people who are close to me about anything which seems suspicious to me, I have a natural ability to figure expressions and read “between the lines” which is why my friends close to me always consider my suggestions a strong factors for their decisions, but there are some who don’t listen and face some consequences.

After reading the good facts about having higher IQ level might make you think “Why it is still bad though, these kinds of people are so lucky”, well let me elaborate the negative aspects of having higher IQ level.

Negative Aspects of Higher IQ level:
• These people are ought to be quite judgmental on the occasions of pure stupidity, for example, if you have a quarrel with your significant other, and they try to bring up emotional discussions in your quarrel you would literally find it lame and useless stuff which is worth ignoring.

• Some of you may disagree to this but people with lower IQ are happier because people with higher IQ level cannot just forget anything, for example, they easily freak people out with their sharp memory. They remember every detail of their life, if it’s a phone number, email, or even relationships, what color was that specific person was wearing last week, when and what conversation (especially if it’s a verbal clash) which would keep their mind more occupied, and this is a factor which cannot make life easier, it makes difficult for them to forget and move on.

• They might confuse everyone with their career choices, for example, I know a girl from my class who tends to love math and was also excellent in finance, furthermore, she was also quite sharp in human resource courses and is a great article writer. But she has literally no clue of what would she become in the future and have difficulty figuring out what she would love to do the most.

• They get bored very easily, and they have interest in learning new skills but become bored after learning and practicing those skills, they live in fantasy more than in reality, some hate hard work and can’t stay focused, this can be a weakness if they are not writers, because as a writer they can make great and lovely contents, mix up their emotions into reality and fantasy and establish their unique world of literature.

• Majority of these people seems to be irrational socially, for example, if they are born in a family in Islamic or Hindu religion, they would seem to have a lot of questions regarding their religious practices and rules, they also seem to ask a lot of questions regarding religion which starts to become silly and it generally ends up for them facing hardships. It all occurs because these people feel offended that their lifestyle is being affected by their religion.

• You may face difficulty sleeping at night due to your thoughts and imaginations are running in your brain, and they are hard to stop from raising different questions which lead to the answers connected with more questions.

• Ladies with higher IQs face a great challenge in getting in relationships because the majority of men see them as “Feminist” and would prefer to not have a relationship with them because she might be more superior than them. But they would easily get along with men who support feminism, for example, a person like me would prefer such women to be with and share my experiences with her.

If you are a person with higher IQ level, you may easily have related to all or any of these factors, it is quite amazing to have a higher IQ level but is quite hectic of getting depressed at the same time too. I am believing there are more points which can be added to this list but as mentioned before I chose to discuss major points to keep my article short.

If you have any topic in your mind which you would like me to discuss then feel free to comment and let me know.

Condition of Strays in Pakistan

Note: This article contains high graphic images

In Pakistan, we see a huge number of homeless animals whether they are cats or dogs or any other species, these animals are either trying to find a shelter to protect itself from the burning rays of the sun or suffering due to thirst or hunger. It is a sad fact that each year the rate of these animals is increasing and the majority of the people do not seem to care about it.

The main reason behind the excess increase in stray animals is that people in our country are not interested in adopting these poor souls, they are interested in having a beautiful white Persian kitten with blue eyes or a rare breed of dog e.g. a golden retriever. This level of thinking of these people is why the strays don’t get the affection and love which they deserve. The human approach towards these stray animals is quite rare, people tend to see them as a threat and kill them when they get a chance, just like in Karachi about a year ago.

According to Dawn, a dog named Sandy who had four puppies along with her who used to visit Hira Sami’s house for food, for many days she used to come with her puppies and leave after having food for all of them.
Sadly, not everyone has good intentions like Ms. Sami, it was reported that after few days, Sandy was shot dead by the authorities who came to kill the strays all around the area, she was killed and was dumped in a spot near Ms. Sami’s house, one of the puppies was shot dead as well and other was poisoned, only two of remaining survived and were rescued. (News reference
Ms. Sami claimed that “She was a lively animal who was very loving and responded to her name whenever I called out”, by listening to this event it is quite clear that how people in our country think about stray animals and how they mistreat them in response.

How is this humanity?

Picture of Karachi where stray dogs were shot dead by the authorities

The authorities treat the poor animals in this way in the context of protecting the residents from their attacks, what they do not realize is that their vicious and cruelty is causing the hazard to other animals and even people too by leaving the dead bodies lying around. Seeing stray animals in Pakistan is quite heartbreaking, most of these animals you see on your street is being teased by the children who throw stones at them just for amusement which makes the poor animal’s life more difficult to live. We do not provide these poor souls a home to live but we are also not letting them live peacefully in our area or streets, we have stopped thinking like humans.

These animals are also harmed by the hazardous factors of the weather such as rain, winter or even summer, if there is a heavy amount of rain then these animals are unable to find a shelter to survive and it simultaneously causes them to die to carry any fatal disease.

Every year thousands of animals die in car accidents and majority dies of hunger. You might have seen dead animals each day on the roads and highways, they are dead due to certain deadly and heartbreaking factors.

People in Pakistan see stray animals as a threat or dirty animals, for example if a guy sees a pregnant stray cat looking for food around his home he would immediately judge the cat on how dirty she looks and might contain diseases or if she gives birth here it may create mess in his garage and make his children sick, then he ends up scaring her off or beats her to make her leave the area, but what that person does not realize that the hazardous environmental factors have caused that poor animal to face such physical condition.

Another heartbreaking factor in our society is that we do not realize is that these animals have the same amount of right to live as we have, which is why they also deserve care, affection and a family.

Picture of a poor stray killed by a car due to driver’s negligence in Pakistan

As humans, we should realize that we are created by Allah as superior beings as compared to other living things, but being superior does not mean that other beings have no right to live around us, they have the right to live too and we as superior beings should make it easier for these animals by rescuing them, or nurturing them and finding them a good home.

There are only a few people who rescue and help these animals to find a loving home, but the majority do not even care to feel for these poor things.
According to Sahih Muslim, our beloved Prophet (SAW) once saw a donkey which had been branded on its face and he said, “May Allah curse the one who branded it.”. Not only this, our beloved Prophet (SAW) has also forbidden us to mentally hurt the animals. We as Humans must stop against harming these animals and treat them in a kind and loving way, It is our responsibility to provide the stray animals proper food, water, and shelter and give a home, They should be protected against abuse and torture and spread such actions to provide a good example of it, so if next time you see a starving cat near your home, give it food, or a flock of birds in hot weather, give them water, or a dog suffering in the rain, do not hesitate, provide it shelter and find him a good and loving home, and if you find one and have no idea what to do, feel free to contact any nearby animal shelter to help and protect that beautiful soul.
